Explore nature with a hike along the South Huron Trail! The South Huron Trail is an 8km, all season trail that winds through the scenic Ausable River Valley. This accessible trail links two trails: the MacNaughton-Morrison Trail and the Morrison Dam Conservation Area (MDCA).

There are various trail loops (2km, 4km or 8km) that allow visitors to spend 20 minutes or 2 hours exploring nature. Enjoy education kiosks along the trail that identify birds and animals that call the trail home.

The South Huron Trail is great for walking, picnicking, skiing, cycling (MDCA portion) and fishing. There is wheelchair access on the Morrison-MacNaughton portion of the trail and some portions of the Morrison Dam Conservation Area.

Interested parties can arrange an accessible tour on the South Huron Trail Mobile that seats 5 people plus a volunteer driver. To arrange for trail mobile service, please contact the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority office at 519-235-2610.

Washrooms can be found on the south side of the Morrison Reservoir (Morrison Lake) or seasonally in MacNaughton Park.

The Morrison Dam Conservation Area is located at 71108 Morrison Line, RR 3 Exeter. Parking is available on-site.

MacNaughton Park marks the start of the MacNaughton-Morrison Trail. Parking is located at the end of Hill Street.

  • Motorized vehicles and hunting are NOT permitted on the trail.
  • Trail users are encouraged to BBQ in MacNaughton Park or at the trail head of the Morrison Dam Conservation Area. Fires are NOT permitted in forested areas to prevent fires.
